To get to the Atlantis Resort, your bus goes down a nondescript dirt road, making several sharp turns...

...and through this gate. Then, once you walk in the resort entrance....

...it's a botanical paradise.

It's lushly landscaped.

With buildings that have thatched roofs. Okay, they're fake thatched roofs, although the roofs over the porches seem to be real thatch. Our's leaked.

The flowers stand out. One or two flowers on this tree in front of our building bloomed every morning - and then fell off.

Alas - none of the staff I asked about the flowers knew their names.

And I was unable to find most of them in a google search on "Philippine flowers." Although I did find plenty of opportunities to order flowers to send to the Philippines.

So, largely, I can just give them descriptive names, like.."purples."

"Cones and flowers."

Ditto.

Reditto.

I'm fairly confident this is a bird of paradise.

As is this.

A web site I found gave this a different name. But it's a hibiscus.

"Purple leaves."

Leaves and palm fronds.

Palm frond. (Okay, I like to shoot patterns).

This was a palm tree that had sharp thorns all over its trunk.

A worker was removing the thorns so that guests wouldn't impale themselves. Although, actually, I didn't see this happen to anyone.

A pattern of tree trunks.

"Yellows."

On Friday, I walked off the property and shot the flowers on the road leading into the resort. I actually found a name for these - "Sunday May."

Sunday May.

Sunday May.

A slightly different hibiscus.

This is a goat tethered in a yard near the resort. Didn't see the roosters that crowed 24 hours a day.

Obligatory sunset ending shot. Although, since we were on the east side of the island, it's a sunrise shot.

But the idea is good.
